SHIMIZU KEN (born in Kanagawa, Japan) lives and works in Japan.
His work questions the widely accepted recognition and concept towards photography. Shimizu’s works, which include photography, videos, texts, and installations open up the possibility to consider the medium as indefinite objects becalled "photograph".
Shimizu graduated from Royal Melbourne Institute of technology (BA Photography). He recently completed a master’s program in fine arts at Tokyo University of the Arts after studying abroad as an exchange student at The University of Fine Arts Muenster (Germany) from 2022.
神奈川県生まれ。日本在住。
ロイヤル・メルボルン工科大学(オーストラリア)で写真を学ぶ。ミュンスター芸術大学(ドイツ)への交換留学を経て、東京藝術大学大学院美術研究科グローバルアートプラクティス専攻修士課程を修了。
SHIMIZU KENの作品は写真の性質や概念に疑問を投げかける。写真、ビデオ、テキスト、インスタレーションなどを用いた作品は、広く普及した写真を「写真」と呼ばれる不明瞭な対象として考察することを可能にするものである。
